THE WOODSTOCK AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2023 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

WOODSTOCK, CONN. - The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. annually awards scholarships to area students attending Woodstock Academy and Killingly Vo-Ag. This year, ten $1,250 scholarships were awarded by the Society. "The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Preston T. Roberts Memorial Scholarship" honors the memory of the late Preston T. Roberts and is funded by the Family. Mr. Roberts was the Dairy Extension Agent for Windham and New London counties from 1954-1985. “The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. H. Dexter Young Memorial Scholarship" honors the years of dedication by this director and former President, H. Dexter Young. Dexter spent his lifetime volunteering for organizations dear to his heart. “The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Fern Phaneuf Memorial Scholarship" honors the memory of the late Fern Phaneuf who served first as Superintendent of Grounds and then as General Manager for 27 years. His contributions to the Fair continue to live on. The Recipients are chosen by a committee from the Society, with assistance from representatives of the faculty at Woodstock Academy.


The recipient of The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Fern Phaneuf Memorial Scholarship is Carah Bruce, daugher of Jason and Catherine Bruce of Woodstock. Carah plans to major in Psychology at Springfield College.


The recipient of The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Preston T. Roberts Memorial Scholarship is Shannon Cunniff, daughter of Michael and Michelle Cunniff of Woodstock. Shannon plans to major in Elementary Education at Regis College.


The recipient of The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. H. Dexter Young Memorial Scholarship is Bryn Miller, daughter of David and Dawn Miller of Woodstock. Bryn plans to major in Pre-Med and Environmental Science at the University of Vermont.


Carolina DaSilver is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. She is the daughter of Eliandro DaSilva and Ana Ficher of Woodstock. Carolina plans to major in Nursing at the University of Connecticut.


Lennon Favreau is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. Lennon is the daughter of Brad and Amy Favreau of Woodstock. Lennon plans to major in Non-Profit Management at Wesleyan University.


Ciara Hassett is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. She is the daughter of Thomas and Janice Hassett of Brooklyn. Ciara plans to major in Animal Science/Pre-Vet at the University of Connecticut.


Elias Newall-Vuillemot is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. He is the son of Jane Newall and Deborah Vuillemot of Woodstock. Elias plans to major in Naval Engineering at the University of Connecticut.


Natalie Romano is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. She is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Romano of Canterbury. Natalie plans to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Worcester State University.


Owen Tracy is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. He is the son of Daniel and Jessica Tracy of Brooklyn. Owen plans to major in Architecture at Syracuse University.


Nicholas Webster is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. He is the son Ian and Susan Webster of Woodstock. Nicholas plans to major in Music Education at the University of Connecticut.


Liam Wilcox is the recipient of a Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. Scholarship. He is the son of Stephanie Wilcox and Chad Wilcox of Woodstock. Liam plans to major in Business Administration at Nichols College.
